Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is an scientifically, empirically proven treatment for trauma and PTSD. The EMDR protocol supports the brain’s reprocessing and healing from memories of threat and trauma.
The brain then adjusts and resumes processing information more clearly and easily. EMDR won’t erase memories but reduces and can eliminate the impact of debilitating anxiety and panic.
Sometimes, traumatic events can get stuck in our mind and body, becoming knotted in a repetition of memories, emotions, and physical responses.
The good news is that brains are capable of healing (rewiring) and EMDR therapy can help people heal from psychological trauma much like the body can recover from physical trauma.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is grounded in the understanding that thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, and actions are all interconnected. Negative thoughts and feelings have a way of trapping us in an unhealthy cycle.
CBT works to help us recognize and change unhelpful, destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on your perspective, behaviour and relationships.
We can’t control every aspect of life, but we can take control of our interpretations and manage the tougher moments. We may develop coping skills for you using CBT.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
DBT helps us increase our ability to manage distress without loosing control or acting against our own best wishes. With strategies and mindfulness, we can calm the body and mind to work with and through intense feelings.
DBT tools build self awareness and ways to manage intensions and relationships with more ease and efficacy. Communication, boundaries, and negotiating solutions are key topics as DBT works to promote healthy relationships and respectful interactions.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS is effective in healing family trauma and current stressors by acknowledging all the internal parts of us, including the 'fixer', the 'helper', the 'critic', the 'exile' and others. With discussion, coping strategies and body awareness, the internal dialogue finds a new level of peace and coherence, which can be felt in the body, between relationships and in life experiences.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT includes action, acceptance of life and emotions, as well as an increased commitment to creating new patterns which are more in alignment with their current journey and goals for success. Through support and encouragement, clients reconsider and possibly turn away from avoiding, denying, and struggling with certain topics in order to develop more health, balance and personal happiness.
